e|net and Ice Broadband have entered into a partnership to deliver wireless broadband services across the country, and in the coming months they plan to provide services in Mullingar and Tullamore.
The first collaboration between the two companies took place at the recent highly successful Electric Picnic event, in Stradbally, Co. Laois, in September.
The event was wired for cutting edge communications, using technology provided by e|net, the Limerick based company which manages the State’s regional broadband network, and Ice Broadband, a leading nationwide provider of wireless internet services. Ice Broadband provided the reliable wireless Internet service for RTE and the Gardai over the weekend Electric Picnic festival.
Commenting on the success of the relationship to date, CEO of e|net Conal Henry said: “We are proud to add Ice to the growing list of operators that are using e|net for their own competitive advantage. Our customers know that e|net delivers scalable, reliable communications solutions with turnaround times and service levels that eircom customers can only dream of.”
Ice Broadband Chairman, Fran Rooney said: “Partnering with e|net will allow us to roll out wireless broadband from the MANs to outlying areas, maximising the State’s investment in the broadband infrastructure and extending the service to surrounding communities. The success of the Electric Picnic collaboration is a clear emonstration of the potential of this partnership for both companies.”
e|net manages 27 Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs) across the country, providing state of the art fibre networks to telecoms operators, such as Ice Broadband.
Ice Broadband was established in March 2003 as a pioneering wireless broadband service provider. Today, it is one of the premier broadband carrier providing quality services to both business and residential customers. Its rapid rollout of wireless broadband has resulted in widespread coverage across the country. Yvonne Rooney, daughter of Fran Rooney, is the MD of Ice Broadband.
